October 29, 201410 yr comment_457892 Where did you get your heater core hoses, please sir. The work you're doing amazes me. Is this your 1st restore?Oh yeah, what are you gonna do for the bumpers? futofab.com has some 240Z black powder coated ones for $240, haven't seen the sheen yet but the semi gloss you're using would work for me. Look at post #13, http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/body-paint-s30/53303-msa-fiberglass-bumpers.htmlThanks,Cliff Edited October 29, 201410 yr by siteunseen Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49193-my-datsun-280z-rustoration/?&page=16#findComment-457892 Share on other sites
October 29, 201410 yr Author comment_457926 Thanks! I just took my old hoses to the local Autozone and they matched them up pretty good. I currently have the fiberglass bumpers but the Futufab bumpers look enticing. November 1, 201410 yr Author comment_457998 After a much needed week long vacay in Maui, I'm back to work on the Z. I focused my attention on the lights and the rear area of the car. Pretty rough shape. Repainted the taillight panel in factory gunmetal Disassembled Cleaned housings Then polished the lenses. New foam gaskets. Installed new bulbs. Purchased some cleaner chrome bezels off Ebay. I still may get mine replated in the future. And.......Walahhh! On to the front turn signals. I purchased the 240Z turn signals off Ebay as well. I got them fairly cheap but they were rough. The lenses were in decent shape though. First I disassembled them and soaked everything in degreaser overnight. As you can see, it stripped the chrome off of reflector piece. So I got some chrome vinyl wrap and covered it. Turned out pretty good I think. Hopefully it holds up to the heat. Cleaned everything up and reassembled. Also polished up the lenses. November 1, 201410 yr comment_458001 Amazing job Haz! Did you use the gunmetal spray from SEM? Its what I used and then I sprayed them with a satin clear also from SEM. Amazing what a little polish and a buffing wheel will do! Those lenses look awesome!Oh, what was wrong with the precision hatch seal....I need a new one. November 1, 201410 yr comment_458006 Your project is coming along nicly. Really looking good. Nice job on the lenses. My taillights were just as bad and the chrome bezels were painted black by the po. I have a set of 240Z lenses for the front, just haven't got around to doing the air dam yet. Ended up cleaning up the 280 units in the grill. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/electrical-s30/50956-280z-front-turn-signal-refresh.htmlLooking forward to seeing the projects journey to completion.Chas Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49193-my-datsun-280z-rustoration/?&page=16#findComment-458006 Share on other sites

I actually ended up using a wheel paint that I had. The color matched pretty good. The seal from the kit seemed like it was too thick and the hatch didnt want to close very well. The OEM one is still a little thick but its better. I think it just needs to be broken in.
