February 16, 201510 yr Author comment_463695 Weeks up! How's it running?Sent from Canadia Unfortunately, I threw my back out this week so I couldnt get much done. Getting old sucks. Nonetheless my thermostat housing and hoses are on backorder anyway. So hopefully soon. Till then i'm doing little odds and ends like antenna, emblems, and stuff like that. February 16, 201510 yr comment_463701 oooohh.... sorry to hear about the back! i've been through that twice, no fun - and always seems to happen at the absolute worst time.i had been building a bike for 6 months and finally got the bodywork back from the paint shop, stayed up till 2:00 am in the garage putting her together, all ready to ride. next morning i bent down to pull on a sock and my back froze up. couldn't barely walk for 2 weeks, over a month before i could even think about throwing a leg over a bike - and in the middle of summer with that thing just begging to be taken out on the twisties! take care of yourself, stretch every night - we want to see you finish this project! February 16, 201510 yr comment_463732 Two back surgeries '85 (forcing my retirement from the Fire Dept.), '91 (putting bottom paint on a 42' sailboat), two trips to the E.R. in the last several years. I feel your pain, Matt. Don't try to come back too soon, no bending over the engine compartment, and NO twisting (stay out of the interior) or you will not be a happy camper...ask me how I know. Just take it easy for a few days and allow the spasm go away. Use that time to plot and scheme. Take care. February 22, 201510 yr Author comment_464076 I got a few things done this week. Mostly little random stuff, still waiting on some parts for my cooling system so I can button that up. They should be here next week. Ordered all new OEM emblems. I told myself I would wait to put these on last but I coudnt help myself. They look so good. Also installed a new antenna. I may refurbish the original power one down the road. I cleaned up my inner fender plastics too I had to do another batch of plating so I just gave them all of my original hardware to be replated. There were some nuts and bolts that just didnt look "factory" enough for me so I will replace some here and there. Like the strut tower nuts were bugging me. The factory nuts are 14mm and the Fastenal ones I bought were 17mm. I wont replace everything, just the ones that bug me. I also started on my fuel system. I originally was going to use a Fuelab filter but decided it was going to be a bit overkill so I just got a new factory replacement and painted it black. My Fuelab regulator and pressure gauge Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49193-my-datsun-280z-rustoration/?&page=24#findComment-464076 Share on other sites
February 22, 201510 yr comment_464078 Super nice Matt! Hope your back is better. Correct me if I am wrong, but won't you need a smaller scale fuel pressure gauge since you are now running carbs? (very nice carbs) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49193-my-datsun-280z-rustoration/?&page=24#findComment-464078 Share on other sites
