Worked on my parking lights today.

I needed to extend my parking light harnesses about 18" to reach my stock plugs.

Soldered all the connections.

So I've always had some issues with the turn signal and headlight switch. Headlights wouldn't always turn on, turn signals were intermittent and it would always feel clunky. I tried to squirt a bunch of white lithium grease into the mechanism but didnt really help.So I decided to tear them apart and rebuild them.

Parts all cleaned up

And the culprit....contacts had a bunch of carbon build up. A little sand paper took care of that.

New lithium grease and re-installed everything.

Re-installed everything and the switches all work like new now! It was a lot easier than I thought, just takes some time and you have to be really careful taking things apart so you don't lose any small parts.

Yet another nice job Matt!

Now, to make those re-worked switches last, are you going to install Dave's relays & harness upgrade (MSA sells it)?

You can adapt the 280 headlight plugs to it & will really eliminate the high current thru the switches which is what kills them over time.

A project I will be doing this summer.

Nice work, you make it look simple. "its a lot easier than you thought". I have been hesitant because Im worried Ill stuff it up. Its not working all that good now, but with my luck......

Looking great as usual

Great pictures. That really helps me understand the process and what the results should look like.

Thanks guys, this is the write up that I followed step by step.

Thanks yeah I was looking into those. I heard they make your headlights and dash lights brighter too?
