:finger:

The bloke who is doing some major cancer surgery and painting for me told me today that 240 Zeds that have had total restorations done bringing the car back to original condition are being exported from the USA to , of all places, JAPAN, where they are paying large sums for the cars.

The bloke, (his name is Carl), is not the bulls--t type of bloke and has always been correct in the past.

Anyway, Carl is going to let me know which magazine printed the report. I'll get back to you with more detail.

Has anyone else heard about this?????????

If word gets out it might help to increase the car's value.

Rick.

This sounds like old news. It's a well know fact that several years ago Nissan had a restoration program for the 240Z. The work was actually done by a couple of independent shops in California but Nissan wanted people to think it was a factory effort. The program ended well short of its goal - I think they only produced about 50 cars. They were sold (more like auctioned) at 10 Nissan dealers in the US for a starting price of $30,000.

Yeah I think that was "SPEED" magazine, maybe the Febuary, or January Issue. They has a story about the 350Z and a side story about the 240Z. The one they had pictures of was a silver one, that had been exported (Returned?) back to japan I believe.

With the Law in Japan as they were/are, alot of old cars are sent to the wreckers as scrap, and they just buy another new car.

Thats why we get alot of second hand imports here in Oz.

ROFL ROFL ROFL

Borrowed the magazine and photocopied the article.

The mag is HIGH PERFORMANCE IMPORTS, issue number 27.

No date on the cover but probably last months issue. (Aussie mag).

Apparently Nisdsan America started out with 150 240 Zeds purchased privately, regurgitated 50 of the best using the others as parts cars.

The plan was to sell them for around $25,ooo --27,ooo US as "NEW FACTORY WARRANTED CARS".

Over half ended up in Japan. A few of them are on the show room floor at dealers. Apparently, one has just 15 klms on the clock.

"To sleep, perchance to dream", and dream and dream of owning one of them.
