Graphite Konig Rewinds needed

bhermes

Recommended Posts

I am back in the market to purchase some used Konig Rewinds preferable the graphite ones. Not sure on size. I want the biggest I can fit without modifying the car. I would also like tires but I realize that shipping will become an issue even for the rims themselves.

I am a novice at tires and specs etc.

I am located in Louisville, KY.

Looking for rims/tirespost-24101-14150828794012_thumb.jpg and some advice.

The car is mainly a weekend driver and not for racing at this point.

I will be ready to purchase early July so just want to see what is out there. If anything.

Thanks.

Zero offset. Only problem is the front dustcaps aren't deep enough. there are threads here about people hammering the inner dust caps 2mm in to allow enough clearance for the caps. By the way the Michelins I purchased carry a 80k warrenty.

I too bought the 16x7 Rewinds from Discount Tires, Wheel Details - Discount Tire Direct

The cheapest highest rated 205/55-16 tires and valve stems, after all the rebates and a $60 debit card for using their credit card which got instant approval and 6 months interest free to pay them off. $689. You can buy the exact same lug nut set off e-bay for $27 instead of $45 from Direct tire, 16 12x1 25 Silver Lug Nuts Mod Tech Gline Konig Wheels | eBay

So all in $716 and very happy, no rubbing with that size tire. Look at the same wheel at MSA and they say the largest tire is the 205/55s.

I like them better on the 280, a little too big for the 240 in my opinion.

If you have a Lowes credit card it's the same company, GE Financial and you'll get approved as soon as you hit SEND.

The price is in line with what I paid for Rewinds/Khumos. I did pick up a rub on the driver rear with 215 tires. I can't remember the sidewall, but I think they were 55 or 50. I swapped out the springs/struts for Chevette springs & KYB struts. It will still rub a little on a big bump at freeway speeds, but it has to be a pretty big bump.

I have to think that the rub is due at least in part to the 250lbs of dead weight behind the wheel. :)

I like a firmer ride. With the stiffer springs and 16s, I do feel some bump steer when I get to the small drop at the end of the driveway. You can get a wider variety of tread compounds in the 16 inch tire, so if you want to improve performance and traction, you have more options.

The Rewinds have received more than their fair share of complements over the Iron Cross ZX wheels that you can barely make out in my avatar. I think I have a picture of my car with the Rewinds in the "What did you do with your S30" thread.
