Graphite Konig Rewinds needed

Here's another vote for working with Discount Tire on a wheel and tire package deal. I've also got the 16X7 Rewinds, 0 offset, with BFG 205/55 ZR gForce tires - this size tire keeps the OE 25" overall diameter for an accurate speedometer.

As to looking at 15" wheels, the available tire selections in 15" are generally pretty poor. If you do choose 15" you'll have to use a taller profile if you want to hold the 25" diameter.

I've been watching the 15" at Discount tire for my 240, their 3 warehouses haven't had them for a month, they're on order. I over analyze too but go ahead and take the jump, you'll be happy you did. I just noticed something while typing, look farther down this page to "Similar Threads" and read what everybody else has said. One goes back to '04. About 100 replies should help make your mind up.

I am looking at two tires at this point.

1) Michelin Defender 820AB $135.00

2) General Tire Altomax RT43 700AB $105.00

Just from my ignorance, harder rubber less life?

Comments?

Hard rubber usually means longer life and less traction. Unless your car is a daily driver, you can get away with a softer compound. Tread pattern will usually dictate noise. Then again, with a 40 year-old car, you usually get plenty of noise from other sources.

Anyone out there running on the Altimax RT43's? I am not really concerned about the cost difference; however, they recieved good ratings on Tire Rack.

I mentioned daily driver but I really would not be driving much if at all in the winter. Very little snow anyway in KY.

I would guess about 5k miles per year max.

Thanks.

I'm running Kumho Exsta(sp) 205X55X16 on Konig Graphites and they were reasonably priced tires and give a decent ride with pretty good grip. I got the tires new when I bought some new 16" rims(which in person I hated and sold after 1 week) mounted them on the Konig's which I bought off e-bay for a fair price. I do occasionally get some tire rub on the rear on sharp turns with bumps in the road, just gotta slow down a little.

I've got 16x7 Konig Rewinds with 205/50R-16 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires (Extreme Performance Summer tire). Note my 240Z has been lowered with Suspension Techniques Sport Springs, lowers the car approximately 1.5" over stock. I have had no issues with rubbing and this wheel tire combination fills the wheel arches nicely. This was the best performance ugrade I have made to my Z.
