Posted June 7, 201410 yr comment_449408 I picked up the original spare to my early 74 260Z from the restoration shop yesterday. Base on appearances, the tire is in remarkable condition for a 40 year old tire. I don't see any dry rot or cracking. Silver stickers can be seen inside. I've owned this car since 1978. To the best of my recollection, the spare might have been used once for its intended purpose around 1980. Is it worth trying to sell with a disclaimer or is the liability too great? Your thoughts? June 8, 201410 yr comment_449469 I would not hesitate to buy or sell an antique tire as such - so long as it is clearly understood it is for DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY - not to be driven on. And I doubt that anyone would want to drive on it unless they happened to have 4 matching tires which I would guess is nearly impossible. And an observation based on a NOS Michelin XWX I have from the 70s - tread compound is probably pretty hard and driving on it would probably not be realistic.I have bought tires from the 1040-1950 vintage from BuyCheapTiresandWheels.com which appears to be a subsidiary of Coker Tire. And I know of a guy who has a set of 1948 vintage Goodyear 7.10-15s for sale.If its for sale - what do you want for it. June 9, 201410 yr comment_449493 Price is whatever you can get - depends on how bad buyer wants it and / or how bad seller wants it gone (or in my case - wife would want it gone). Coker sells a lot of NOS singles like the one below thru BuyCheapTiresandWheels.com - typically $55 incl shipping - now on sale for $50. They must have a special deal with FedX or UPS - I can't ship a tire less than $20-30 each. Others try to get $100 or more.
