June 19, 201410 yr comment_450045 YOU GUYS CRACK ME UP when I replaced my sending unit, my fuel gage started to read biased low. Do not be surprised if your gage reads high or low. I wish there was a method to correct this - aside from bending the rod. Show us your shoes and I'll tell your something about the fuel gauge calibration There are one or two adjustments (flat screw driver through the back) on the fuel gauge .... two if I recall correctly. The gauge works by a heater/bimetal reed that swings between two contacts. You can adjust the amount of swing by turning the adjustments that bring the contacts closer or further apart. This in turn changes the heating duty cycle and the needle location. June 19, 201410 yr Author comment_450055 My new rod is bent just as the old one is. Hopefully it'll be close. Now back to the shoes. I'm no Imelda Marcos but my foot's been size 10 since I was 14, so I have about 50 pairs of shoes and boots, no kidding. Good shoes last a lifetime! My girl friends get a big kick out of my shoe closet. And Thorlo socks, ONLY, they're the best made. June 19, 201410 yr comment_450056 I share your desire sir to have only good things on your feet. It is one area of clothing I will spend money on. A splendid pair of driving mocs are a thing of beauty. Yes, I admit to it. I have a shoe problem. June 21, 201410 yr comment_450133 Being a forester were all about the boots. I'm in the need of new ones and will be putting out $536 for a pair of full custom Westco boots. The are well worth the money I get nearly 8 year outof one pair with one rebuild in middle. June 22, 201410 yr Author comment_450215 That plate on the scale reminds me of the show Gold Rush- I wish that was gold! These old 240s would be like the goose that lays golden eggs. I got it all put back together Saturday morning. $65 worth of fuel hose and clamps from O'reillys. Two 3/4" pex elbows for the 180 turn on the 5/8" hose off the back of the tank. Two 1/2" pex elbows for the 3/8" line that hooks in above the sending unit. 1 where the hose goes into the tank, the other under the vent tank to keep the line from pinching together. Started at 5:30 a.m. and was finished at 10:30 a.m. Cleaned up and laying on my couch at 11:30, drinking beer. The universal hose was cheaper but a bit tougher to deal with I'd imagine. Vaseline and a hair dryer were my #1 tools. I'm happy with the end results. My people thought I was crazy after buying a $300 pair of Merrell hiking boots, I don't hike. I've had 4 bone fusions on my right ankle since a motorcycle wreck in '85. June 22, 201410 yr Author comment_450221 The 1/2" elbow at the top of the tank for the 3/8" line. The same under the vent tank. I cut it close with the measurements. And the tank before I put it back. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49439-developing-story/?&page=2#findComment-450221 Share on other sites
