Headlight covers...Hot or not!

Hi I have a red 280ZX Turbo, T-tops, from 83 with a slight crack in the left headlight glas, therfore it´s not completly waterproof anymore. Now I´ve been thinking about gettng those headlight covers to fix my problem and add some new style and aerodynamics. They come in clear or smoked lenses , but is it cool or not ? I think that the smoked lense looks ok but mayby it ruins the classic look ? I don´t like totally customized ricers you know:sick:

Please give me your opinions on this ....

thanks'

I like the headlight covers too; but if you're just worried about the cracked headlght, why not replace the damaged headlight? The one headlight has got to be cheaper to replace than buying two covers. You can always get the clear or smoked covers later on.

Am I missing something here?

Hi carl not at all you´re not missing out on anything, it´s just so that I like the lenses I think...and it´s only a small crack in the glas ,cant´hardly see it . And also I have an idea about a vacumm/turbulens area being developed in the lightcases sucking in all kind of fragments from the street resulting in a smashed headlightglass again some day.

BTW does anyone no about how the headlight covers improves the aerodynamics ..any data/figures/infos ?

Thanks for your opinons guys!

after have seen some of the Z´s in the gallery with the clear covers one , it´s the one for me aswell! but I would like to see how a red Z car with the smoked lenses looks like I couln´t find any pictures !

You can get plastic chrome edgeing that pushes on the edge of the door. It may bend enough for you to be able to use it on the headlight covers. Just a thought.

Most small glass cracks soon become large cracks.I think that headlight is on borrowed time. They somehow manage to break completly when you don't have the time or desire to fix them.Like the night you start your vacation roadtrip or the middle of nowhere on a rainy night. An attempt to band aid with a cover won't change the end result.Removing those headlight buckets for the first time after 20 years is a pain on a good day when your ready for it,It damn sure won't happen in an auto store parking lot.

There's some food for thought... Might be worth a try!
