new owner of a 260 2+2

While this has turned into a discussion about carbs, if they do not have the fuel bowl on the side, is it possible they are still british SU carbs, all the mini/jag stuff lying around has a fuel bowl type thing on the side, but this lot seems to just be chunkier underneath, any ideas?

Hello everyone,

I am also doing up my 260 2+2 much to most peoples disgust but after all it is all personal taste in the end isn't it. As for the flat top carbs I for one am not ashamed of the fact that i'm using them on my engine when I finally get to rebuild it. I'm leaving that till last. In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with them when they are tuned properly and this is not as scarry as everyone makes out, sure they look different and I believe that is half the problem, the other half comes from the bloke that couldn't tune them so he told everyone they were crap maybe to cover his own arse. In short I agree with Zedrally some of you would be surprised and a little bit richer if the first thing you did was to keep these carbs and not ditch them because of what youv'e heard.

Anyway mellow I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your 2+2 as I get out of mine.

Great to see another "Z" guy in Adelaide, Iv'e seen 2

260Z 2+2's recently that looked fantastic, a metallic dark blue one and a silver one both were slightly lowered with good looking mags and window tint. as for parts it depends what you want, a lot of wear and tear mechanical stuff is avail over the counter, Jim at Main Nth Nissan is pretty helpful , other than that take up Z-kid's & DOHC's offer before you scrounge around the wreckers or post here for suggestions on particular items.

well to do with all this carby talk, i have SU carbs.

i have started to do up the body a fair bit taken out most of the rust. And aslo the parts im looking at are a LSD diff, a few badges, one of those struts and a few interior bits & peices.
