May 17, 20177 yr Author comment_521170 When I installed 71b Bell house, it was so tight to shift on 1st and 2nd gear. I compare with 71C and 71B bell house. Just enlarge to 16mm hole is too tight. I noticed there is some space for each rod. So, I taper cut the red section. It now easier to shift. I notice peach tree in my back yard grew up too much. Trim it while waiting for paint dry and finished. May 24, 20177 yr comment_521611 Your top photo where it is facing towards the front has it in the right direction. It should be leaning forward at the top, if that makes sense. I can post a photo of mine later. I'm not sure why they made them like that. Maybe someone can explain why? Your bracket turned out nicely. Looks straight, and no distortion from the welding, which can happen easy on thin metal like this. Trim if up a bit and a coat of paint and it will look neat. May 24, 20177 yr comment_521614 The sloping design might be to drive the tail of the transmission downward under braking or impact. Maybe. Hate to be my usual contrary self but I think the second picture might be the way. If I read the illustration correctly. May 24, 20177 yr comment_521639 Mmm thats funny. Mine is backwards and the original, I replacdd as well. I can remember it binding a little when I tried it the other way around, so I checked the old one on some photo's and mounted it the same way. It's still a mystery to me why it's shaped like that. June 1, 20177 yr comment_522132 Hard to tell for sure, but those welds don't look like they got much penetration.... Looks like you ran out of gas during the MIG welding. Hope they are good! June 1, 20177 yr comment_522133 Here's an alternate method. Chop saw, metal blade, and some hardware store parts. Load-wise, I think the end result is about the same, but you do lose the rubber damping on the ends, so only the center mount is damping vibrations. Only adding for future searchers. For those that don't have a welder, like me.
