HermanM Posted July 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2014 I just took out my fully rebuilt 260z for an "around town" trip that was longer then usual. The issue I am have is that when I parked my car and then got back into it, I had issues accelerating. It almost felt like one of the carbs may have been cutting out and I was revving up pretty good with no great acceleration. As I would stop and go, it was come and go, but when I went to get onto the freeway I topped out at 70mph with the engine making a loud slurping noise.I have no idea where to start looking and this car has to make the 800+ mile drive to ZCON in a week and a half. Please help.Info on Z:Stock L26 (all emissions taken off professionally) and Manual TransmissionEarly SU carbsNo ac runningcar only has 300 miles on it since the rebuild
siteunseen Posted July 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 23, 2014 Maybe some loose nuts around the carbs? I'm sitting here making Slurpee noises and to me it sounds like sucking in air?

madkaw Posted July 23, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 23, 2014 So a little history please. Was it running fine before?Might just start looking at the basics and going from there.Check for tightness of all fasteners , return springs , linkages.

HermanM Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted July 24, 2014 Gary built it. Take it to Gary before it makes a popping sound...I've been on the phone with him, on and off, for hours today and run through all the "basic" issues. I am going to replace the fuel pump in the morning to see if that may be the issue

HermanM Posted July 25, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted July 25, 2014 Changed out the fuel pump and no more problems. Seemed to have oil or something coming off the bottom of the gasket, but I'm assuming that was the oil used to lube it up upon install
