That little screw holding the choke lever

On my '70 240Z the screw hole itself for the plastic choke handle is missing. Maybe the metal choke control that the plastic knob fits on is a replacement for that to be true but it doesn't look all that new to me. For the '70 model is that also an M3 screw and does anyone have a guess as to the pitch? Ebay is selling taps that are M3 but they are selling them in .6, .35 and .5 pitch. They also sell self tapping M3 screws which I would guess would be the easiest solution for me.

Can you just grind down the head diameter of the screw that you have to get it to fit?

If you do, I hope you have tiny fingers and tiny tools. That's a very small set screw. BTW, I need one, too, for the last 32 years. :)

As a temporary fix you could use a longer M3 screw and slide on a bushing, sized to fit the counterbore in the choke handle, then the bolt head won't have to go into the handle recess. Like making a small shoulder bolt. I probably don't have to warn you about "temporary" fixes. LOL

OK, apparently I wasn't looking in the right place on the Motorsport site. They actually sell a tiny little hex screw for 50 cents that is supposed to fit a 70-71 car. My understand is that there are three different choke knobs and (I believe) different levers that take different screws. So, not sure if it would fit the lever on my '73 or not. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on it if they didn't tack a $6 shipping charge on it. Guess I'll wait and bundle it into a bigger shipment.

On my series I car the choke handle screw is an M2, the length under the head is 6mm and the head is 4mm diameter by 1.5mm high. It is a Phillips pan head type machine screw, if I have a small enough thread pitch gage I will check the pitch later today. Here is a page from my Spaenaur catalog:

Best I can tell the pitch on my M2 screw is 0.4mm

My body shop screwed up my choke knob that was in perfect condition, and expoxed it back on. I did not know until working on the interior and needed to take the console out. Needless to say I was HIGHLY pissed. I found a "new" knob not in the same condition as the throttle knob (long story). So I cannot get the screw in because the threads in the screw are slightly messed up.
