August 19, 201410 yr comment_453726 The bungs inside the header manifold may whistle. Consider plugging then grinding smooth. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49815-bought-some-carburetors/#findComment-453726 Share on other sites

Also had the round mouth carbs installed when the head was done. It has one of those "heat buttons" siliconed on the end casting plug that has "Birmingham CHS- VOID IF REMOVED". August 19, 201410 yr comment_453738 That header's too far gone. What would those bungs have been for? Thanks.Smog pump emission system: pumps fresh air into the exhaust stream to dilute it and to help with removing some harmful gases by chemical reaction with the air. There was an E88 as good as identical to the E31, then they modified it and dropped the cr a little around September 71.lt is suggested that the way the E88 is stamped (type font) may be related to the different versions. I have read the the US version are different to the other markets as well after August 72. Whether that is true or not mmmm Im no expert on E88s and there is a lot of woffle on the interent.Like madkawsaid, that cam looks really nice. Cant be too long ago that it was rebuild by "Birmingham CylinderHead Service".Chas Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49815-bought-some-carburetors/#findComment-453818 Share on other sites
