Posted March 7, 200322 yr comment_28915 Hi everyone! I'm new here so bear with me.What newer Nissan engines are possible to swap into the 240z if any. I've been thinking that the 300z and the Maxima engines should work. The reason for this is because I can find rebuilt engines for these cars but not for the 240z unless you know something I don't.If so, let me in..If engine swap of the older 300z and Maxima engine if possible, what ones specifically and what else would need to be done to the car in order to make her run?Well, I guess that's enough blatently ignorant questions for now.See you later- I'm new to 240z's give me some time... January 29, 201015 yr comment_307855 You need the wire harness, ECU, transmission, engine of course, and the fuel pump. so you will need an electric fuel pump that putsout at least 50psi and 255lph for the turbo engine, i would try and find a 60 psi. and of course a high pressure fuel filter and larger high pressure hoses, the carb 240z only runs 7psi so the hoses will blow, and the filter will also blow apart. but this should be a cool swap. I put an LT1 corvette engine in one a long time ago, had it posted in here with pics, but it would have been better with a nismo turbo instead. mikePS I know this is old, but I have some guys asking about this and I told them to join this forum and search for this swap! I was surprised that there was not more on this swap with some pics!!! August 29, 201014 yr comment_329423 There is a website that has motor mounts to fit some skyline motors into a 240z. The website is something like Tiger Japanese Engines, or something like that. September 1, 201014 yr comment_329753 Easiest is to take a motor from a zx and put it in there, keeping the SU's. Probably the biggest return for the money. ZX motors are everywhere and cheap. From there it is a matter of how fast you want to go and how many dollars you you have to spend. You could put a zx turbo motor in and drive it for a thousand bucks if you can do the basic work. I did this in my 280 for less than $300. I put a stock 83 zx motor in the 240 for less than $200. Granted, both motors were used, but known good running engines. (Bought the entire car) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5000-engines-for-swap/#findComment-329753 Share on other sites
September 2, 201014 yr comment_329761 You can swap pretty much ANY engine into an early Z, but IMHO, the Z31's VG30 is one of the worst choices. Stick with the stock engine and rebuild it or find a good used one.
