Fuel Supply

Recommended Posts

I got my project from a guy I work with. They put a L28 with T5 trans. I went to the ends of racking my skull finding out what the :tapemouth was wrong with her. Now I think the fuel pump isn't getting power. If I'm not mistaken the pump should kick on in the on possition before you go to start? My return line to the tank is leaking where the hose meets the clamp on the tank. I noticed a puddle of fuel just below it. Also, could it be some vacuume lines on the SU carbs rotted and not functioning right?

I'm having the worst problem with my z. It runs out of fuel when i have a full tank. I just replaced all of the fuel lines in the engine compartment with the correct size ones. I put a brand new kyosan fuel pump on. I put a new fuel filter on, and I'm still only getting about 1.5 psi of fuel pressure on the furthest line on the fuel rail. If i'm not mistaken the fuel pump should put out about 1-4 psi correct?

I'm going to replace the fuel lines going into the tank soon. I think those lines are rotted out and the fuel pump is sucking air and not fuel. It's easier to suck air than fuel.

Has any one else experienced anything like my dillemma. Running out of fuel under load or just crusing? It will start back up once the fuel builds up again.

thanks,

isaac
