Posted October 21, 201410 yr comment_457428 If someone who has purchased the 240 ones recently could tell me of the fit and finish of what they have now, I'd appreciate it. I can only find comments, which weren't too good, from 5 years ago. Hopefully they have improved.I've found some at ztrix.com but they don't have the bracket landings glassed in, you have to run bolts through them to attach. He makes them for racers. I want the smooth finish like MSA's.Thank you for any response,Cliff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50265-msa-fiberglass-bumpers/ Share on other sites

Might be worth a lookWow! Just sent him pictures of what I have. I found his phone number googling "fiberglassfabrication" off an ebay listing. Parkway something or another in New Jersey. He said he sales through distributors but they're out of stock so he's selling direct? Thank you Steve. I wanted to ask you about my E88 head I recently bought, valves and what not. When I get these bumpers off my mind I'll send you a PM.Ramsey, NJ Edited October 21, 201410 yr by siteunseen Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50265-msa-fiberglass-bumpers/#findComment-457437 Share on other sites

October 22, 201410 yr Author comment_457488 Well that wasn't what I wanted. Bumpers only, no landings. He suggested I use 3M adhesive to hold the bumper to the bracket, not too keen on that.So I'm back to ask about MSA's bumpers. Appreciate any input. October 22, 201410 yr comment_457517 Not sure why you want fiberglass, but if it is for the black check out---FUTOFABSeems the black powdercoat costs will be hard to beat!HTHJim D."Zup" Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50265-msa-fiberglass-bumpers/#findComment-457517 Share on other sites
October 22, 201410 yr comment_457520 I have one on the fornt of my 280Z. I bought it in Feb 2014. Positive: Fitted well. Did need a little sanding on the inside line to match passenger side valance. Mounting brackets are slotted which allows room for adjustment. No pitting in fibreglass surface. I have seen others with a lot of pits in the surface. Cheap. Im using it for testing. Plan to buy a harrington SS bumper (much) later when car is resprayed. Negative It will need some work to look really neat. The end "Caps" are not finished very well. Storage scuffs. Will need painting to fix it. Nothing serious, but its visable. See photos. October 23, 201410 yr Author comment_457560 Those are great prices on chroming but I need to get the holes welded up and a couple of dings out first. I'm wanting to drive this car for a few years then get it painted and the bumpers chromed so this is temporary. I carried my front to a local powder coater yesterday and he told me that it's permanent, no chroming after the powder coating.Kacrow76 and Chas, you've pretty much made my decision. I needed to know that they bolted up, all the others are naked bumpers without any mounts built in.Thanks for everybodies replies,Cliff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50265-msa-fiberglass-bumpers/#findComment-457560 Share on other sites
October 23, 201410 yr comment_457573 Hi Cliff,Ill try to take a threw photos from behind the bumper later tonight and post them. October 23, 201410 yr comment_457580 I managed to take a couple of snaps of the bumper mounts. Mind you its on a 280Z, so I imagine it will be a little different on a 240Z. The slotted mount for the front two mounts should be centered better on the 240Z. Mine are at the inner limit of the slot because I using the old shock mounting points for now. I also used bolts with a lock nut in the bumper so I could adjust it easier. You can see them in the side ear photos. The photo also shows the poor finish of the left side end compared to the right which is clean. It was a quick and easy mod and I am pretty happy with the end result. Ill fit the air-dam this winter. October 24, 201410 yr Author comment_457607 Thank you, thank you! I really wanted to see how the wedge shaped landing was made into the fiberglass, your 2nd picture is perfect. That left end looks like an additional piece of fiberglass, hopefully my painter can sand it down enough it won't be too noticeable.I will order 1 today. Thanks again.
