Dave Patten Posted October 26, 2014 Share #13 Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) Not sure why you want fiberglass, but if it is for the black check out---FUTOFAB Seems the black powdercoat costs will be hard to beat! HTH Jim D. "Zup" Zup, FutoFab has '70-'72 240Z steel F&R bumpers coming November 14th. Available in both chrome ($360/ea) and black powder coat ($240/ea). Ordering is now open. These are JDM style w/o holes for rubber face strips. Pics of a '70-'72 240Z chrome front (black powder coat is made the same). siteunseen Posted October 27, 2014 Author Share #14 Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) Is that price for the rechroming only or is that the for whole bumper? Those look great! What sheen would the black powder coated bumpers be? Glossy or not so much? I'm very excited about these, you've made my day. I'm very excited about these, you've made my day.Prices are for new bumpers, not for plating cost or a rechromed OE piece. They are 100% brand new parts. The quality is exceptional. The prep and chrome work is better that OE. I am not sure on the powder coat sheen. I have not seen a sample of the bumper in black. I'll post as soon as they arrive. S30Driver Posted October 27, 2014 Share #17 Posted October 27, 2014 Great looking chrome front bumper.May have to rethink my re-chrome of the rear bumper this winter & just buy a new one.
Jeff G 78 Posted October 28, 2014 Share #18 Posted October 28, 2014 Hmmm, those Futofab bumpers look really nice and I'm very intrigued by the powdercoated ones. The price isn't bad at all depending on the shipping costs from NH to MI. I've been contemplating swapping my park bench '78 bumpers for 240 bumpers for a long time. I've been looking at the MSA fiberglass 240Z bumpers, but here in Michigan, the truck shipping for fiberglass parts from LA makes them cost prohibitive so I've never pulled the trigger. In a few weeks though, I will be in LA for work and I'm seriously considering buying a set. I can ship them back in a truck we'll have out in LA, so shipping would be free. I like the idea of painting the fiberglass bumpers and rear spoiler the same gunmetal gray color as my Panasports, but fiberglass bumpers seem like they would be super fragile and the quality is suspect. Good used 240 steel bumpers are hard to find and I don't really want chrome anyways. Dave Patten, any chance of getting custom powdercoat colors? I'm not sure how black bumpers would look with gray wheels.
Dave Patten Posted October 29, 2014 Share #19 Posted October 29, 2014 Hmmm, those Futofab bumpers look really nice and I'm very intrigued by the powdercoated ones. The price isn't bad at all depending on the shipping costs from NH to MI. We use FedEx on our larger parts. We have a decent rate schedule so shipping doesn't get crazy. Without doing an actual look-up I'd say around $30/ea S&H. If anyone wants actual shipping costs, the bumpers are on-line for ordering. Set up your account, put the parts in your cart and head for check-out. The actual shipping charges will calculate before you pay. Dave Patten, any chance of getting custom powdercoat colors? I'm not sure how black bumpers would look with gray wheels. Custom colors could be arranged, but it would be done with my local powder coater. He would have to strip the part first and then recoat it. Likely less than a chrome bumper, but not by very much.
Jeff G 78 Posted October 30, 2014 Share #20 Posted October 30, 2014 Thanks for the reply Dave. I will take a look at the MSA bumpers while in LA, but not get them. I really like your bumpers and will likely hold off until your powder coated ones are available.
siteunseen Posted November 10, 2014 Author Share #21 Posted November 10, 2014 Jeff have you made it back? I have put the front and rear in an account on futofab.com and shipping for both all the way down here is only $62.
