Well, if you are reading this, you're now using our new website design!  Welcome to the new look of The Classic Zcar Club.  I just wanted to take a moment and let all of you know this latest project has been an extreme labor of love.  After testing this over the last several months, I've been able to migrate all of our data within a period of just a few days.  While there is still more work to be done, the website is now ready for you guys to jump back in with both feet.

All of our data has been migrated.  If you are looking for something that was in our old site, please give me another few days to bring it online.  All of the data is here, but, most of it has been disabled for viewing until I have a chance to go through and formalize the permissions.

The old site is still online, you can see it at this URL:  http://legacy.classiczcars.com

In the next few days I'll be working to bring you all of the things you have been used to seeing on our site.  Feel free to reply to this message with your questions or concerns.  Thanks again for your patience and enjoy the site!

Mike

Hi Mike,

I just upgraded my home computer and went with a Unix operating system. Is this site not compatible with Unix?? Every time I try to bring up the site, I just get a blue banner that says ClassicZcars.com and nothing else.

Marty

Hey Marty,

We should be fully compliant with Chrome. I use it all the time. Make sure you are putting our site into your white list or trusted sites list. I haven't used Linux directly to browse the site but I do have a Mac. Not quite the same flavor of Unix. Anyway give it a try. Firefox is good too.

Linux, right, LOL!!! My son's computer tech friend built the computer for me and convinced me to try Linux.  It's totally new to me, so I am trying to figure it out.  Yep, I am using Chrome.  Thanks for the tip on FireFox and Shockwave.  I will give them a try.

Thanks again!

Marty, what version of Linux did your son's friend talk you into using?  I can give it a try on my side...

My computer is running Linux OS 9, 64 BIT.

Let me know if I should be doing something different.

Cool but I also need to know the distribution.  Run this command from the shell:

"cat /etc/*release" (without quotes) and let me know what it says.

You also want to make sure the OS is up to date by running "yum update" as well. This will assure you have the latest updates and support releases.

Mike,

I use Firefox, and everything I've tried since the upgrade has worked fine.  Everything for the forums, that is.  I visit the chat rooms almost daily (6-9pm eastern) and I only hear one instance of each sound.  The chat developers must have turned the sounds off or something, because  I will only hear one doorbell, one message tick, and one door shut, unless I refresh the chat room page.

I think you did a great job wit the upgrade...

I get something odd every time I visit:

I will click on the View New Content button, and I always get NINE pages of threads.  Even if I visit a half-hour later, I get 9 pages of threads.

Yes, I have cookies enabled, and all the stuff that we needed for the old system.  Apparently, it's not reading my cookie's time value for the last visit, and gives me every thread all the way back to when the upgrade started.

Clear your cache and cookies, assure our site is in your white list (trusted sites), and give it another try.  What browser are you using?
