Well, if you are reading this, you're now using our new website design!  Welcome to the new look of The Classic Zcar Club.  I just wanted to take a moment and let all of you know this latest project has been an extreme labor of love.  After testing this over the last several months, I've been able to migrate all of our data within a period of just a few days.  While there is still more work to be done, the website is now ready for you guys to jump back in with both feet.

All of our data has been migrated.  If you are looking for something that was in our old site, please give me another few days to bring it online.  All of the data is here, but, most of it has been disabled for viewing until I have a chance to go through and formalize the permissions.

The old site is still online, you can see it at this URL:  http://legacy.classiczcars.com

In the next few days I'll be working to bring you all of the things you have been used to seeing on our site.  Feel free to reply to this message with your questions or concerns.  Thanks again for your patience and enjoy the site!

Mike

While it's in tuning phase I might as well show one thing that really caught my eye (or vice versa).  The colors on the old site were much more grabby and bright.  Copied a screen shot of both for comparison.  The dull brown and the grey and the fadey text in the posts in the new format aren't as pleasing to the eye.

Sorry Mike, I'm piling on.  While you're in there though....  Sorry about the ad-block.  Chrome installs it automatically or makes it a check-box option when installing, I believe, which is odd since it's a Google product.  The funny thing is though, it blocks almost everything but the 1000 Asian Women.

Ok, I found the equivalent button.  See my screenshot below.  To get to this page, you have to click on "View New Content" in the upper right.  Click on forums (if it's not already selected).  Now look at the RIGHT side, you'll see the username and a date/time below that.  Click on the date/time and you'll jump to the last post.  Pretty awesome!

This whole new site is awesome!  Thanks.

I just found that the little circles or heads? to the left of the thread titles will take me to the first unread post of a thread I'm participating in.  Also if I've replied in that thread.  COOL, COOL!

Yes.. I'd have to agree with that. It's going to take some tweaking. Interesting that I didn't notice any difference in " displayed posts" when Mike said he switched to Tahoma font ( My preferred font in all my E-Mail programs ) . I'm using FF 33.02

However, just as I was typing this reply, I noticed that the text in the Reply Editing box was definately clearer than before and does appear to be Tahoma. I see no difference on the previously displayed posts, even ones after Mike made the change. Edit: When in Editing mode, text is much clearer, has more contrast and is easier to read than when it is posted. As soon as you hit " Save changes " and your reply or Edit is posted, you get the washe out text again.

The other thing is, if you use Reply with Quote, the " Quoted dialog box and Font are faded out even further than in the original post. This makes it really hard to see. Compare the " Quoted by Zed Head " box and text to his original post. Replied quote is washed out even further.

Just a suggestion, but I find Blue on White fonts on Post headers etc, much easier to read that the Gray on White fonts. Darker Blue on a very light Blue background for Navigation Boxes etc also seems to be easier to view.

Keep up the good work Mike !! It'll take some tweaking...but it'll all come good. embeer.gif

1: Spell check " appaers"  to be turned off. How does one turn it on? Is that an Website Developer option only? TIA.

I have right clicked blank edit space and " Chcek Spelling " box is selected...but Spell chcek obliviously doesn't work. Toggling the feature On and Off doesn't do anything.

Screenshot of " Right click " option:

2: " Reply To Post " radio button at bottom of page is not selectable. Only the top button is. So if you want to Reply to the last post near the end of the page, you have to scroll all the way back to the Top right radio button , instead of just clicking on the Bottom Left radio buttun which is displayed nearby. Niggly detail, but one that gets annoying after a while.

Hmm, checking this speiling ???  Looks like mine is working fine, the spelling shows up with red underreath it.

Maybe you need to add our sites to your "trusted sites" list or clear your cookies?  Not sure, but speil cherk luks frine on mei syde.

I just noticed another nice feature that has been added for previewing a topic (or thread). The preview button is hard to see, but if you point just left of the reply count it shows up, allowing you to preview the first and last post for the selected topic. You can then click the first or last post buttons if you wish to navigate there.

Cheers

Mike

Yes, it has a very slick and clean look.

Is there a URL to a page that is something what we used to used to have for the forum home page?    I'm  using:   classiczcars.com/forum/51-tech-forums/  but I figured it would be something like the former classiczcars.com/forum

Since I have long way commuite I often browse via Phone.

On iPhone, tap on the "New Content" is not always show new contents.

My expectation is to show most recent post as same as Hybrid Z site.

Can you make this happen?

Thanks,

I did just make another change to the fonts.  I went with a Google font called "Droid Sans"...  Unfortunately the fonts on this system are still an ongoing learning experience for me.  They seem to be buried into different areas, one for a "main" type font on the site, and other settings for forums, galleries, and such..   It looks like when you type a message, it uses one font, but when you save the message it applies it as another font style.  I'm still digging and will have it fixed eventually.
