I have a 1970 S30 that I'm slowly restoring.  It's a pretty straight and rust free car.  The body panels are pretty wavy with it being so thin.  I'm a ways out from having the money to have it painted and I'm thinking about having a wrap done on it until I have the funds to have a paint job done that will do the car justice.  

I'm at SEMA this week and I'm happy with how our vehicles turned out with their wraps and I've seen some pretty sweet wraps on other vehicles.  Should I do a wrap to make the car look nice until I can get around to painting it?  How bad would the imperfections in the body show?

 

The wrap is a very very thin poly sheet that conforms exactly to the body. I can only imagine that any flaws will show right through.  If you want to hide imperfections I think the only way to do that with a wrap is to use a very busy pattern. I'm thinking plaid.....

A typical good quality wrap is $2,000 and above. 

And that same good quality wrap will show all but the tiniest imperfections.  A guy i know does vinyl signs and wrapped his own personal truck to promote his business.  Surface scratches disappeared but everything else was viewable.  If you bought cheap vinyl on Ebay or something, and did the work yourself you might be able to get it done affordably.  I still think it would be cheaper to drop the car off at maaco or something for a $400 paint job.

I would not expect Maco to make it smooth for $400 bucks.
