Master & Wheel Cylinder Rebuild Kits?

Before getting too excited looking for kits, I'd pull them all apart and check the bores for pitting. Corrosion pits over the years will tear up new seals rather quickly.....

If you do end up buying rebuilt units or even new units, I'd open them up and wash them out. I've seen machiningresidue left behind inside which we have to assume will start chewing up new seals too..... Just a make sure....

Well,

I ordered the wheel cylinder kit from rock auto, and just got a message saying their inventory was incorrect so I will receive a refund :0(

Any leads at this point would be greatly appreciated. Really don't want to shell out $150 or more for something I have done many times before.

Thanks for any assistance,

Eric

Thanks Darrel,

tried all the locals (auto zone, pep boys, o'reiley) with no luck.

Will try a few more, but not much faith in the big chains.

It kills me that rebuilds are $150+ and new can top $200, I have rebuilt many wheel cylinders and master cylinders and only need about $5 worth of seals.

I'm sure someone out there could make a some $ on these kits if they have the capabilities to reproduce them ;0)

I must have gotten the last wheel cylinder kits.  They were a good deal, and seem to be working so far.  I just checked rock auto and they are showing the entire left and right wheel cylinders for $31 each.  I know you would rather spend less, but that's not too bad.

When I ordered the kit they thought they had, I inquired about those complete cylinders, the girl was very nice and reserched a little further, they are for later 71 models, and are not correct for 3/71. It appears that the change in the break system came around 6/71. Plenty available for the later, but proving to be a little less than favorable for the earlier cars. Will try a few more leads today, but this might be a little setback. May have to pull the trigger on the nos at an outrageous price.

Thanks for the assistance,

Eric

I got both brake cylinders and master cylinder from local Nissan dealer.  Also got kits from Canada and rebuilt the old ones.  If buying new, you have to use the adjusting arm for the left wheel cylinder from your old one; the new ones come only with the right one for some reason.
