SteveJ Posted December 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2014 I found out that John Williams passed away today after a long illness. John was a long time Z car mechanic, racer & enthusiast. There are quite a few threads on this board talking about John or recommending him for Z maintenance in and round the Atlanta area. Not too long ago, some members of the Georgia Z Club got together to work on one of John's cars for him. Fortunately they got it finished in time for him to enjoy it some. John will be missed. George_Zed Posted December 11, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 11, 2014 I haven't heard of John Williams before, I am new to the Z community, but I am very sad to read about his death...seen Blue's link I understand he was indeed very important to the Z's world... he was really young... many people die around us... we make the mistake to take life for granted my thoughts to his family...

rossiz Posted December 11, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 11, 2014 sad news indeed. being new to the z community, i did not know of him, but it seems he will be missed by many.funny how we join forums/groups/clubs based on a machine (i've been on several motorcycle and a few car forums/clubs) but it's the people that keep us there, keep us coming back, give some meaning to the whole thing. jonathanrussell Posted December 11, 2014 Share #10 Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks for posting. Like many of us, I had heard about, and read about John for years. I live in metro Atlanta during many months of the year. About 2 years ago John posted a Craigslist ad selling some of his extras. I drove over and met him and he spent a solid 2 hours with me showing me around and talking about zcars. I bought a set of 4 screw carbs and a P79 cylinder head. He was a really nice guy and very generous with his time. I regret not going back for another conversation.
Carl Beck Posted December 11, 2014 Share #11 Posted December 11, 2014 I think anyone that knew John - knows how baddy I feel at his passing. Really Great Guys are few and far between, so it is very hard to say farewell to them. RIP,Carl B.
