Posted December 13, 201410 yr comment_460298 The winter fuel formula in California is causing vapor lock. This only happens when the winter grade comes out in California. What would anyone recommend as an additive to decrease the volatility. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50593-fuel-volatility/ Share on other sites
December 14, 201410 yr comment_460302 We've had some good discussions about the "vapor lock". The info gathered suggests that the simplest way to cure it is to convert to an aluminum fuel rail. The larger bore of the rail holds enough fuel to cool the injectors via boiling and condensation, with the heat conducted and radiated away by the aluminum. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/48810-hot-start-issue-with-efi-who-has-it-who-doesnt/ Assuming that you're talking about a 280Z. The 240Z's with carbs and mechanical pump can have a real vapor lock problem. December 14, 201410 yr comment_460338 Why would they even bother with Winter fuel grades in California? It never gets cold enough there, except maybe in the Sierra's. Edit: Oh never mind...seems your Politicians got involved again: http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/news/auto-blog/summer-blend-vs-winter-blend-gasoline-whats-the-difference-13747431 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50593-fuel-volatility/#findComment-460338 Share on other sites
December 16, 201410 yr comment_460407 Cant leave CA fuel for more than 2 weeks in a small motor without gumming up a carb.. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50593-fuel-volatility/#findComment-460407 Share on other sites
