5 Pin Din Radio Jack

anyone done the aux in mod to their later model clarion/hitachi radio? this radio is from a 78

i was thinking of using the stereo signal switch on the front of the radio as my radio power switch to toggle between

aux and radio.  i wonder if that switch can handle the load and or possible arching?
