Would You Pay $400 For Tail Lamps?

I found an eBay auction for a set of rechromed tail lamp trim pieces

and it makes you wonder if it's worth the price, would you just keep what you have, or would you rechrome your own trim pieces?

Like so many things in life, it's all about supply and demand. I think it's good that the option exists for those who have the need and the spare change.

I prefer to spend my money on the things that make the car safe, reliable, and fuel-efficient, first. If there is any left over, it can be saved for the bling.

Every Z owner is at a different part of the journey. Some just want 4 wheels, others want concourse....sure makes the world a beautiful place.

I bought a set of those, too. Did I need them? No. Did I want them? Yes, but only since 1971 when I first saw a Z in Tokyo. Was I pleased that someone went to the trouble to make them available at a price a little over 10% of what I paid for my entire new Z in 1971? Yes.

It's free enterprise and that's how the world works best. If the vendor makes a few bucks off the deal for his effort, we're both happy. My Z isn't a full restoration or a show car, but it gives me warm fuzzies to add the new lights.

I purchased a blem unit from jdm.com off ebay. I didn't notice any blemish at all. They look fantastic. $299. Sold my old ratty ones for 80 bucks on ebay. So I would say it was a good deal.
