Hey mates

 

I need to replace the outer hatch seals on my Z. What type (three piece or one piece) and where would be the best place to get them? Mine are in terrible shape and leak quite badly.

Not the inner seals mates, the outer (Upper) seals, being the onese on the outside of the hatch, the thinner of the two/

The twee side stripes 76911-N3000 and the top stripe 76910-N3000.

I have never used them, but I hear that the three piece from MSA fit ok.

Because the outer seal is a "soft" seal it is more tolerant to manufacturing tolerances Ths inner seal does the actual sealing and if the seal too big it causes all the problems with door slaming.

You mention its leaking badly. If its leaking into the car then the inner seal need checking too.

The usual set-up for the three-piece kit is a tubular profile for the upper piece and a pair of flat profile pieces for the lowers.  I think the one-piece version carries the tubular profile through all the way but you might want to confirm.  I did not like the OE approach as it did not adequately seal along the sides.  The one-piece version was not available at the time, I made my own with two additional uppers to carry the tubular profile all the way down the drip rails.  I don't know where the one-piece is available but I think you'll find it more satisfactory.
