Jeff G 78 Posted March 29, 2017 Share #1189 Posted March 29, 2017 What is the process to coat the inside of all the cavities where you welded new metal? I would think that is the most critical to get coated to prevent future rust.
wheee! Posted March 29, 2017 Author Share #1190 Posted March 29, 2017 Eastwood internal frame coat... All the parts I built or welded up I coated with that stuff. Sprayed it into all the cavities I could. It's all in the thread if you have several hours to kill

Jeff G 78 Posted March 29, 2017 Share #1193 Posted March 29, 2017 Awesome! I need to get that stuff for my wife's FJ Cruiser. I coated the whole frame with POR-15, but I haven't done the inside of the rails yet. Toyota frames are horrible for rusting out. I had a scrap her old 4Runner due to frame rot. newtonhubcap Posted March 29, 2017 Share #1194 Posted March 29, 2017 I like your down draft vent on the floor fir painting. Great idea. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
wheee! Posted March 29, 2017 Author Share #1195 Posted March 29, 2017 Thanks! If you look carefully, you can see the ceiling fan in a couple pictures that pumps low volume flow through a filter from the roof. It gets fresh air from the side soffit. The large pan on floor creates a draw down area under the chassis and vents through a filter out the back of the garage.
wheee! Posted March 30, 2017 Author Share #1196 Posted March 30, 2017 Good timing! The Dura Block sanding bars arrived today! Time to get dusty.... again.
wheee! Posted March 30, 2017 Author Share #1197 Posted March 30, 2017 Started the body filler process. Short hair Fiberglas filler on all the weld seams to seal pinholes and make it pretty! Well, pretty eventually...
Patcon Posted March 30, 2017 Share #1198 Posted March 30, 2017 Are you using hook & look or adhesive blocks? I have been using the 3M hook & loop purple rolls for abrasives. They are a little expensive but cut really nice and don't foul too much
wheee! Posted March 30, 2017 Author Share #1199 Posted March 30, 2017 Durablock hook and loop. 320 and 400. I also have an random orbital air sander with a 120 grit for cutting the fibreglas down. Expense is relative. If you buy three times as much to do the same thing, are you saving any money? The fibreglas is working well. I have sanded and refilled for the last three hours and I am liking the results. I will clean it up further with glazing putty after I respray the primer. I agree, I tend to splurge on good materials because the labor is free and I don't have a lot of spare time. I am glad the fiberglass is working out...
