May 31, 20177 yr comment_522065 Looking really good. For sure will be hard to know where you did any work on the car after its all painted, which I guess is the whole point Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=109#findComment-522065 Share on other sites
May 31, 20177 yr Author comment_522070 I guess this is more like practice for the outer shell. The more I do here the more confident I get for doing the body work on the outer panels. Still have a couple more days of hand sanding the base primer before seam sealer. Then a major clean up before the sealer coat of the interior, underside and engine bay. May 31, 20177 yr comment_522073 What a difference a primer coat makes. You've come a long way Grasshopper! You've got to be at least a little bit excited. Looking good! May 31, 20177 yr Author comment_522077 I will feel a lot better when the sealer coat is on and everything is ready for final paint (on the bottom/chassis) and clear. June 6, 20177 yr Author comment_522408 All right. That's it. No more sanding and filling the bottom chassis. Cleaned the shop up tonight. Will do it again the next time I'm in there, then on to the seam sealing! Whew! June 13, 20177 yr Author comment_522965 Seam sealing is complete. Next up is another complete wipe down and clean of the car before spraying the sealing coat on the bottom of the car , inside of the car and engine bay area. Still feels like a lot of work with little to show for it. But yes, I know it will all be worth it later! June 14, 20177 yr Author comment_523093 Finished wiping down the car; cleaning the shop up. I plan on spraying the sealer coat this week and prepping a spare fibreglas fender to use as a test mule for the body colour. I plan on getting at least four shades of green mixed up in the water based paint to test spray sections of the fender. That way I can get a good idea of what the car will look like when I'm done in different lighting etc. Hope to be able to get that done in the next few weeks. Summer is such a busy time.... June 20, 20177 yr Author comment_523478 Also prepped the spare fibreglas fender I had so that I can spray some base colours on it. I would like at least four sample greens on the fender that I can compare in real light with contours etc. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=109#findComment-523478 Share on other sites
