@wheee! great work! Will you use closed cell foam in certain areas or leave it like it is? The only thing I don't like is that these tar mats are that heavy.. should be 10-15Kg (20-30lbs) if you cover all of the interior?

I removed 80lbs of undercoat at least so I am not concerned with the soundmat. Plus it’s butyl, not asphalt so it’s a bit lighter. I do have the closed cell foam floor mat to go on top of the floor pans too.

The rest will get carpet backing and carpet to cover it. I also have the Techno Toy Tuning spare tire cover in powder coat for the rear!

 

Might do a little powder coating tonight...

where are you getting carpet? a kit?

I am thinking of a sewn and molded kit. No definite supplier yet. Something I can work with to make a good custom fit.

So after three attempts to deliver the correct gas tank straps, I have received the correct set as of today! Skillard makes a great products and the quality is awesome. At least now I have the correct lengths for my 76!
The previous 77-78 version was an inch or so short each side. The 70-74 set were wildly different.

Played around with the chrome powder coat from Eastwood.

Was the pitting there before the chrome powder coat? Or is that a result of the powder coat? Not criticizing, just wondering. 

Good eye. The pitting was on the original metal. I wasn’t too worried as this was a test. I have another one in better shape.
I used the gloss coat on top too. Big mistake. Looks like crap.

I like that chrome powder coat. That seems to work pretty good...

ooh yeah, much better. I'm impressed with that stuff. Going to have to try it out myself.
