October 29, 20186 yr Author comment_560540 I’m assuming I can trim that tab with the two holes off of the throttle body. Clean it up a bit! October 29, 20186 yr comment_560543 If you aren't going to run any sort of dashpot, you can trim that tab off. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=180#findComment-560543 Share on other sites
October 29, 20186 yr Author comment_560549 Nope. The engine will be controlled with Haltech 750 most likely. I will have an IAC plumbed in to it. October 29, 20186 yr comment_560567 Well then as long as you don't need that tab for something else (like maybe mounting your IAC or a throttle cable upgrade), then chop away. And speaking of a throttle cable conversion... I did one a little while ago and I'm ecstatic. Everything is incredibly smooth. Does that Borla throttle body come with an option for the throttle cable style linkage termination? October 29, 20186 yr Author comment_560568 Well dang it, I was thinking of not doing the cable linkage, but now you have me second guessing... If I run a mount plate off that tang on the throttle body I can adapt the Borla (it's the exact one in the picture) to accept the cable linkage. Just need to find an appropriate throttle cable to use as a replacement. October 29, 20186 yr comment_560584 Haha!! Now that I've finished with that project, I would be thrilled to send someone else into that abyss.  As you can imagine, I made most of the parts myself... Some lathe work, some drill press work, some bending and massaging. And in the end, it works great and looks like it belongs. One of those "way more work than normal people would do, but turned out great" kind of things. I don't have any pics of the final product, but for attaching up in the engine compartment, I made a bracket that bolts to the intake manifold using the two holes for the AAR. I ditched the AAR when I upgraded my throttle body and those two holes were empty so I was able to repurpose them for the termination end of the cable. I used a Honda Civic throttle cable from the junkyard and shortened it to length.  I'll snap some pics when I get a chance. The most complicated part for you would be the fact that the termination end at the throttle body would need one of the wrap-around cable style linkage connections instead of the stock looking ball and socket joint. That's why I was asking if the Borla had options for the linkage style. October 29, 20186 yr Author comment_560588 Please do post pics. I will look into a cable setup to accommodate the roller action needed to replace the stock linkage. The Mr. Gasket universal kit might be a good start point. The rest of the roller linkage will need to be sourced from the junk yard probably Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=180#findComment-560588 Share on other sites
October 29, 20186 yr comment_560589  Oooohhhh, that cable is quite a bit cheaper than the Lokar cables I've used for cable throttle conversions. Will have to get one and see what the difference is. I have a nice little firewall mount adapter for these things that works pretty slick, and matching ball sockets that I solder onto the ends of the cable that snaps right onto the pedal ball.
