wheee! Posted December 20, 2018 Author Share #2234 Posted December 20, 2018 That's a cool mod! Is it something you fabricated or a kit you purchased?Just built it out of parts from Princess Auto. It’s been done a few times before and I just copied others.
wheee! Posted December 20, 2018 Author Share #2235 Posted December 20, 2018 This will work! Now to do the other side... I will clean up the chassis area a bit more before welding in the brackets. Then I will spray body colour in the chassis area and powder coat the hinges in a satin black.
wheee! Posted December 20, 2018 Author Share #2236 Posted December 20, 2018 (edited) Satin black looks awesome on these. Keeps them hidden behind the grill. Edited December 20, 2018 by wheee!
wheee! Posted December 20, 2018 Author Share #2237 Posted December 20, 2018 And because I’m a focused individual... squirrel!.... where was I? Oh yeah, port matching the throttle body to the intake! A sharp blade to trace the wider opening on the throttle body This is a significant amount of extra air!! Then overlay the gasket on the intake manifold for tracing All that’s left is the grinding...!
Patcon Posted December 20, 2018 Share #2238 Posted December 20, 2018 You are gonna use the hood hinge torsion bars also? Will they clear the gas struts?
wheee! Posted December 20, 2018 Author Share #2239 Posted December 20, 2018 You are gonna use the hood hinge torsion bars also? Will they clear the gas struts? No. The torsion bars will not be re-used. I will keep the mounts on the hinges for them just in case, but I don’t plan on using them. Just didn’t feel right cutting them off.
grannyknot Posted December 21, 2018 Share #2240 Posted December 21, 2018 I've had my hood shocks working for a couple of years now and I wish I had included some kind of adjustment mechanism to just trim them up a bit, one side has a bit of slack. It's nothing really but I notice it.
wheee! Posted December 21, 2018 Author Share #2241 Posted December 21, 2018 Maybe new shocks....?

This is a significant amount of extra air!! Well to be clear... It's a significant amount of extra area. It'll only be a significant amount of extra air if the rest of the system will pull it. However with a larger displacement of 3100cc, and better exhaust flow through 2.5” headers and tailpipe, I expect that the engine should use most of this new ‘area’ effectively! The shocks are new, I guess what I'm suggesting if you are interested is attaching the lower pivot points on some kind of a slider that can be clamped down with a bolt so you can trim the position if needed.
