grannyknot Posted January 29, 2019 Share #2295 Posted January 29, 2019 If a Luddite like me can do it, you won't have a problem, does Haltech send you the unit with tune already installed or are they tuning it remotely as you drive?

wheee! Posted February 2, 2019 Author Share #2300 Posted February 2, 2019 Time for a mythbusters episode! The half shafts are absolutely identical. No one side longer or shorter than the other. @zKars
wheee! Posted February 2, 2019 Author Share #2301 Posted February 2, 2019 And before anyone starts saying “but those are 280 shafts....!” I pulled apart a 240 shaft I had laying around (yea it’s a 240 cuz the stub shaft is attached and the spline count is for a 240...) and they are the same as the 280 ones. The 240 shaft with u joint still attached on top.
Zed Head Posted February 2, 2019 Share #2302 Posted February 2, 2019 John Coffey had a nice writeup about this on his old Beta Motorsports web page. He even transferred it over to the Facebook of his new company when he shut Beta down. They compared a whole bunch of shafts to show that they're all the same length. The only reason for binding then is if there's less space between the hubs of a 240Z versus a 280Z. The 240Z hubs, actually the distance between the flanges, would actually have to thicker since the wheel bases are the same. That's the number that is still unclear. So, comparing the flange to flange distance of a 240Z rear axle to a 280Z rear axle might show something.

Patcon Posted February 2, 2019 Share #2304 Posted February 2, 2019 How much grease was in those half shafts? They look like they have gotten a little warm at some time
