wheee! Posted February 22, 2019 Author Share #2389 Posted February 22, 2019 Holy crap! That’s a ton of room in there!
w3wilkes Posted February 22, 2019 Share #2390 Posted February 22, 2019 (edited) This looks great, waiting to see how the defroster and vent ducts fit. I'm guessing there's plenty of room for your radio or stereo? Edited February 22, 2019 by w3wilkes
wheee! Posted February 22, 2019 Author Share #2391 Posted February 22, 2019 I’ll be using a Retrosound unit probably so lots of room. The HVAC controls look like this so they are very small. The slider type didn’t fit properly.

I did a quick check with the defrost vents as they will be the most difficult. It seems there will be just enough room to run them!
Pop's Z Posted February 22, 2019 Share #2393 Posted February 22, 2019 Defroster vent hoses was the hardest part of my system hookup. It is hard to get non-double jointed hands and fingers up in there. I had the right one come off after the install and had to remove the glove box to get at it. Even then it was an adventure lying on my back in the right footwell with the seat out trying to get the hoses back on the defroster vent by the windshield. FYI, I used the original vent hoses and once they were in place I haven't had to touch them since. I had installed a Hot Rod Air system very much like the one you are working with. Unfortunately they went out of business. Cheers, Mike

Even then, I installed and removed the Evap unit 50 times yesterday! ugh.
wheee! Posted February 22, 2019 Author Share #2395 Posted February 22, 2019 So, on to the centre vent stack. I picked up some supplies. A section of eaves trough foam, some acrylic plastic sheet, a plumbing pipe reducer and one foam gasket. First thing was to remove the transfer section in the dash. Then I cut out the side diffuser panels and trimmed off the side vent outlet tubes. The foam eaves trough material was the perfect shape to fill the void and great non-turbulent air flow. Then I trimmed the acrylic sheet to fit and opened a hole for the plumbing adapter to connect to the 2” vent hose. I then trimmed front and back with foam gasket and then bolted the acrylic sheet onto the transfer panel. Looks pretty good!

wheee! Posted February 22, 2019 Author Share #2397 Posted February 22, 2019 Finally got the fill plug removed from the tranny. That allowed me to clean it all up and give it a shot of paint.
wheee! Posted February 22, 2019 Author Share #2398 Posted February 22, 2019 How do I get the old speedo cog out?
rcb280z Posted February 22, 2019 Share #2399 Posted February 22, 2019 I was able to wiggle mine loose with the cable end, screwed on just by a couple threads. IIRC
wheee! Posted February 23, 2019 Author Share #2400 Posted February 23, 2019 I’ll try that. It seems pretty tight for a friction fit. The locking key came out easy.
