July 10, 20195 yr comment_579334 My buddy did that to his car above. The headlights still mount the same way as stock. He just welded the scoops on. No other changes required. July 10, 20195 yr comment_579345 Be sure and mount the hood before working on the buckets or fenders. Would hate to see you fix it and then have to redo it. July 10, 20195 yr Author comment_579346 For sure. This was just a quick mount and check. I have to get the doors stripped still too. The hood looks pretty good with it just sitting on the car. July 11, 20195 yr comment_579374 15 hours ago, Captain Obvious said: Now is a good time to just weld the sugar scoops on and be done with that gap altogether. That is how Matsuo Designed it. July 11, 20195 yr comment_579377 I love the look. My guess is the only reason they made the headlight scoops a separate piece is they just couldn't form one sheet into the shape they wanted. Either geometrically impossible, or too much stretching for the metal to handle. I suspect if they could have successfully made the fender / scoop one piece, they would have. July 16, 20195 yr Author comment_579711 More fun with doors. @zKars provided me with nice “looking” replacement doors for my beat up originals. The first one (passenger side) was a disappointment with a lot of bondo and mashed panel metal. July 16, 20195 yr Author comment_579712 The original driver door was pretty bad too. Lots of welds and dents. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=219#findComment-579712 Share on other sites
