April 1, 20204 yr comment_596092 Your clear catalyst was probably a little slow. so the flat areas laid down better but the verticals sagged a little bit. A little more flash time between coats would help with that. Some of that is just experience and feel, hard for us DIYers to develop those skills unless you paint a lot Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=259#findComment-596092 Share on other sites

The garage was “warm” but not really more than 16 degrees I guess. More flash time would have been the answer. Unfortunately I couldn’t see the clear coat well in the tent through the face mask regulator. Experience would have told me to go slower and maybe use a faster catalyst. I used medium. April 3, 20204 yr comment_596208 Yeah 16d C is borderline for paint. Faster catalyst would have helped. Still it looks great! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=259#findComment-596208 Share on other sites

April 4, 20204 yr comment_596332 Sure is pretty!! I wish my paint still looked like that! The PO did a clear coat and it started getting dandruff a year or so ago. All the sky-facing surfaces have peeled up like a 3rd degree sunburn.
