I talked to my welder (Mat Tech) at work today and he mentioned it was a gas issue too. I just changed the tank about two weeks ago and it was fine at that time. It might be a nozzle flow issue even though I have lots of gas in the tank and it sounds like good flow.... I will look into it more for sure as this is a new issue.

Your Tech was right.  I had a case once with bad gas, new filled tank.  I was stressing out for a couple days on why I couldnt weld.  Read online and figured out I just had a case of poor gas quality.

What did you do to fix the shield gas flow issue?

I took the shroud off the tip, cleaned the tip and wire feed plus the nozzle flow holes, then cleaned the shroud and tried again.... problem gone. Not sure if any one thing was the cause, I was just glad I was back to solid hot welds!
