March 29, 20178 yr Author comment_516657 MMMMMMM….. the fresh scent of paint (even though it's primer). Gettin' Closer!I took off the full face respirator and there was very little 'air' left in the shop! All fumes! Luckily I have a good ventilation system. Left the side door open an hour...! March 29, 20178 yr comment_516659 is that a direct to metal primer, or epoxy? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50908-1976-280z-restoration-project/?&page=99#findComment-516659 Share on other sites
March 29, 20178 yr Author comment_516668 It is a DTM 2K epoxy primer hybrid. Apparently it is the replacement product, supposedly better than regular epoxy primer. It does the same think basically but can be prepared for multiple uses. For example: in the four to one ratio it is a DTM; four to one to one with reducer it is a hi build product; four to one to two is a sealer coat. March 29, 20178 yr Author comment_516687 Mine is the new Valspar DTM 2000 series. It is a hybrid mix and has less VOC's. Supposed to be easier to work with. First time for me so who knows. It did go down extremely well. Nice and flat, no issues except with the cheap gun I used for primer. Should have bought a better one but oh well. The body colour gun I bought is high end.
