 I'd leave the hole open. Less usable space inside for a varmint home. If you put a screen over it, they'll use it for the base of their bed and fill it up with bedding material. BTW, mothballs are an excellent critter deterrent.

You are absolutely right. If I leave it open they'd fall out. Hell they'd have to learn to rappel to get in there.

This is how it was when I pulled the motor. Does it look okay? I think it's at full advance but I never could wrap my head around electrical timing. It's the '79 zx with e12-80 module.

Yes, I was referencing Cheech and Chong. I think I first heard that skit when I was in my teens. It's still funny now, but just imagine how funny it is to a room full of teenage boys.  "Uhhh, I think he's gonna show ya JR."
