February 12, 201510 yr comment_463373 What would be the best fia 240z build? for historic racing of course (in europe)! Key point is the rules and regulations of the race(s) / series you intend to take part in. You need to build your car to fit a specific class, and the race organisers (as well as your fellow competitors...) will decide how closely you are expected to follow the regulations for that class. February 12, 201510 yr comment_463378 Oh, I thought your question was clear, BR. The car build requirements would be described in the general competition rules of the group you intend to race with. Alan's comment is what I thought about your question, too. Have fun and post pictures! February 12, 201510 yr Author comment_463399 Hi again has there been any 240z in historic racing in europe? rules should be the same in all countries at least in europe?? i am planing to use the l28 engine wich was homologated for the 240z in 1975 if i remember right. so that would put the car in FIA period H (1.1.1972-31.12.1976): GROUP 4 . February 13, 201510 yr comment_463461 Not many euro people here, I guess that you will have to join a club to get a track licence so why not start there? Rules can be very location specific, it might help if you mention where you want to race. February 13, 201510 yr comment_463485 The L28 was never homolgated for the 240Z chassis - at least from the FIA papers I have. You need to get your local rule books and the FIA document for the 240Z (S30) chassis which is FIA technical document number 3023. February 13, 201510 yr Author comment_463509 the l28 was homologated by fia in 1975 îf i remember right dont have the fia papers with me here now i have them. also all the body work is in the papers fiberglass bonnet, trunk , doors fenderflares gnose etc etc. but the thing im interessted in has anybody built a car like this in europe and where can i find the parts. in finland in historic racing we go 100% to fia rules exept you can use in local events tyres like yokohama "dot" trackday tyres if they are the same dimension (cause there cheaper and have about same grip as 70s racing slicks) i built escorts MK1s and other cars but in finland they sold only 10-15 new 240z brand new!! and finland was the first country in europe where they sold datsuns. mostly 100a and cheaper stuff. and we probably have the most famous datsun drivers in the world also like Rauno Aaltonen and Timo Salonen. but no info anywhere how to build a proper 240z for the track same like they used in japan that was under fia rules also, they used LY engines but i will use the L28 because cant probably afford a LY engine and i dont want to destroy one either. Tech stuff should be the same everywhere in the world if you get a FIA HTP for the car. and i want to know where to buy the parts or how to produse them. ps bdg escorts and porsches i like to beat hehe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/50933-ultimate-fia-240z-car/#findComment-463509 Share on other sites
February 14, 201510 yr comment_463538 Miroux Motorsports out of Belgium campaigns a 240Z with an L28, and closed their garage after someone passing through pointed out an "F54" block is not an L24....which is what they insisted they were running....VA Motorsports Engineering in Sint Odenroede NL has experiencing preparing FIA Appendix Homogolated S30's. In fact, the owner and some friends are in Finland this weekend attending Rauno Aaltonen's Ice-Racing school. February 14, 201510 yr comment_463543 Try this link for fiberglass body parts. http://home.att.ne.jp/sky/FairladyZ/index.htm I don't know how 'current' this site is. The text is impossible for me to read but the pictures tell much and there are e-mail links posted on the site. February 16, 201510 yr comment_463730 Are you sure the L28 was homologated for the 240Z? In the USA the L26 was homologated for the 260Z in late 1973 and the L28 was homologated for the 280Z in late 1974. There is nothing in the full 3023 document set that I have that allows the 2.6L or 2.8L in the 240Z and I have the revisions through the end of 1974. You can take a 240Z chassis and update it with the 260Z or 280Z appearance items per the regulations and turn a 240Z into a 260Z or 280Z per the rules. That was common in IMSA (Group4) here in the USA and the Frissell car is a perfect example.
