Interior Plastic Protectant / Cleaner

What do you guys use to treat/protect/clean interior plastic?

Dash board, console, diamond pattern final, door panels, is it as easy as Armor All? Or is there some stuff that you have found that does a better job?

Thanks,

Eric

You absolutely DO NOT want to use Armorall on the dash.  Many people have found it to cause the dash to crack.

Warm, soapy water is good for cleaning.  I use Vaseline to protect the dash. It put back some of the petroleum oils into the vinyl, and makes it look shiney.  It helps to soften the vinyl too.

Here's where we get the chance to slam a newbie for not using the search function!  SLAM!  SLAM!  This topic has been covered ad-nauseum with passionate pleas and violent name-calling from some of the oldest experts to the youngest of virgins.

Here is a good website that sells good products.  http://store.carcareonline.com/

My recommendations don't include anything that has silicone in it.

I use 303 on my dash. When I lived on a boat on I used it on all it's vinyl covers and such. We sold it at West Marine. My local dealer now is a spa (hot tub) place and I have been using it on my vinyl-clad hot tub cover. It works very well with no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend it. I used Vaseline on my dash, too, but it was a bit shiny and I got a glare in sunlight. When I put A/C in my car  I replaced my old cracked dash with a NOS dash I got with the car when I bought it...lucky me, so I really want to keep it going as long as I can.

Cheers, Mike

I think I remember where this conversation went when it was on the old mailing list...

"Hey, Honey, where is the vaseline? I need it in the garage to try something I read about online."

I wish I could provide original attribution. :)
