March 13, 20159 yr comment_465496 If they do a load test, which I think they do in CA, you'll end up screwed up. The system is designed so that idle fuel is a whole separate function from driving (loaded) fuel. That's why there's an idle switch in the TPS and an idle air bypass screw on the AFM. You'll probably pass idle, but fail 2500 RPM. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51091-got-bored-so/?&page=3#findComment-465496 Share on other sites
March 13, 20159 yr comment_465497 The basic smog check here is done at idle and at 2500rpm. An "enhanced" smog check is done on a dyno with the vehicle under actual load, but I think the car needs to be OBD2 compliant for that test.My first requirement for finding a project car was smog exempt which here in kalifornia is 1975 or older Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51091-got-bored-so/?&page=3#findComment-465497 Share on other sites
March 13, 20159 yr Author comment_465499 Yeah mine would have been next but Schwarzenegger put and end to that program. The last time I had it smog tested they did the idle, 15 mph, and a 25 mph test on the dyno. I got lucky. I adjusted it before hand and it passed. I will just get the wideband setup to make it easier to adjust. Its every other year here. But I tinker too much and suffer for it when its time for the emissions test.
