Posted March 17, 201510 yr comment_465740 Hey everyone! Joining up on a couple Z forums so this is my intro post. I'm a recent college grad (Mech Eng from Virginia Tech) and I picked up a 1978 280Z from California and had it shipped to me in Charleston, SC about a month and a half ago. The car has an incredible interior for its age and minimal rust on the underside. Body panels are a bit dinged up but I've already acquired a few replcements. Came with an L28, R200, 83 5-speed swap, poly bushings all around, CAI, and some lowering springs. Short term, I plan on getting an MSA 6-3-2 header, Twice Pipes, and some wider wheels/tires. I'm currently waiting for a few remaining parts to do my Dapper Lighting projector swap. My long term plans are in three stages. Stage 1 is fixing the body panels, small rust repair, flares, fender mirrors, and paint. Stage 2 is a drivetrain and suspension overhaul including a 2jz, R154, and all the Arizon Z Car parts I can find. Stage 3 is the interior, which will be updated to match the rest of the car. Hope I can find some useful info here during my long project. March 17, 201510 yr comment_465810 A good idea would be to deal with all minor rust issues/ potential rust issues now before it gets any worse Floor pan work sucks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51119-new-to-the-z-world/#findComment-465810 Share on other sites
March 18, 201510 yr comment_465829 Crespo,Welcome to the forum, sounds like you have a good plan for a rolling resto.I agree completely with LOTZ ^, attack that rust as soon as you can, the salty humidity of Charleston will take it's toll very quickly. We would all love to see the pics as you fix her up.Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51119-new-to-the-z-world/#findComment-465829 Share on other sites
