I did these on my 260z a while ago it was a very difficult process alot of hammering and banging I actually damaged the shaft at the end hitting it the wrong way and in the end I didn't manage to replace all of them. It' just not worth the time you spend wacking at it best getting someone who has the right tools to press them out. I believe there's a tool for taking them out also if I was gonna do this again I'd do it that way as oppose to wrestling with it.

PS: Putting them in is easy.

Just my 2cents.

Michael:

As was mentioned, it is easy to do if you are experienced, but easy to screw up if you are not. I had done it on drive and axle shafts once about 15 years ago and thought I remembered all of how to do it, but when I recently tried to disassemble a spare driveshaft, I managed to screw up part of the driveshaft by not getting the removal tool placed correctly. I'd suggest having it done at a machine shop for a few bucks unless you are recently experienced with how to do it and have the right tools. A shop can do it quicker, and won't make the mistakes amatuers like us can make.

I was actually reading through this thread last night and was going to bring it back to life myself. Might need help with this if I don't find the time to take the uni to a shop.

Mike, or a moderator, can you please move it to the Suspension, Steering, Drivetrain section. Cheers

Saw how it's done today. All you need is a vice and you'll be sweet. Next time I'll attempt it as there isn't that much to it.

The hard thing for me was locating the uni joint. LOL
