Posted March 16, 200322 yr comment_30033 After taking my head apart I found a ton of carbon built up and it still has the broze seats and guides. Is there any shop you would recommend to send it to for the head work? I really don't want to trust it to a shop not familiar with the engine. I saw MSA sells rebuilt heads for $460 or something. Would it be worth just buying one of those? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5150-where-to-get-head-work-done/ Share on other sites

There are many machine shops in the WORLD that can handle the job for you. Buying one from MSA only makes sense if there isn't a local shop that can do the job for you. Shipping costs will be EXPENSIVE! Remember, you have to pay for the one you buy to be shipped, AND you have to pay for your core to be shipped to them! They ain't light! March 16, 200322 yr Author comment_30054 I'm in NY, so yea, shipping to CA would be nuts. I know a couple of race drivers so I'll ask one of them where to go. I'll be able to put a cam in it now, MSA doesn't use anything but stock. Thanks. March 17, 200322 yr comment_30094 Shotime, what part of NY are you in? I'm currently getting a head done over here on the west side. New seats & guides plus a shave. March 17, 200322 yr Author comment_30229 I'm right down the road from you. I found a couple shops in Batavia that do work. If none of them are any good, let me know the name of the shop you went to. I need the exact same thing done. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5150-where-to-get-head-work-done/#findComment-30229 Share on other sites
March 17, 200322 yr comment_30230 I'm using Spinas Engine shop in Ransomville. He mainly deals with race engines and he was recommended by the Nissan dealer. I went to go and check out his work and shop, so far I'm happy. He's been working on my head now, which was pretty bad. I'll let you know how it turns out after I get the seats done.
