Help me decide...black or chrome bumpers?

You were talking about new wheels. I think it depends on that decision.  Personally, I love the look of an Aluminum wheels and chrome bumpers.   Classic look.

I wanted to stay with chrome, but when I got the price to re chrome them,

I painted them dark bronze to match my wheels instead. 

Spent that bumper money for other needed items for the Z.

Chrome! It complements well with all the other stainless trim on the car. I got Harrington stainless steel bumpers and they are great! you can get them all chrome or with rubber bumper ends. I chose the rubber bumper ends. If you get scratches or swirls, all you gotta do is polish them out.

My initial choice was to stick with the black.  But, having looked at the pictures a few more times, I think I've changed my mind.  There's something about the black bumpers that feels just a little not quite right to me.  I think it might be the contrast, which makes them too strong of a focal point compared to the rest of the (beautiful!) car.  I'd probably go chrome, or might even consider body color (I'm usually not a big fan of that, but could see it working on yours).

 

Before spending several hundred on chrome bumpers, you could pick up a bit of 3M Scotchprint for about $20 and put that on there just to get an idea of what it would look like.

Yeah im feeling the same way. I think the black looks good, but just not quite right. Like it looks "cheaper" or something. (probably because it is).

Mine were painted the same body color of my car. Then the front got damaged and I have a black primer on it now. I think it depends, for me anyway, on vehicle color. So for your's Matt chrome will probably go well with white. Mine looks good painted the body color. Chrome I didn't like and the black I don't like on my Z.
