Servo diaphgram and control valve for AC on a 240z

What kind of servo diaphgram and control valve will i need to get to raise the idle when i turn the AC on the car? Still looking for a bracket that can hold a Sanden 508 Compressor. I have everything else, but need to get these parts before taking the car to the shop!!

Personally I would forget all the Datsun " Vacuum Mumbo Jumbo ". Use a 12V Electric solenoid.

 

GM made idle Stop solenoid on most of their carburated cars through out the 1970's and 1980's. They are adjustable and ideal for using as an AC idler " kicker ". They extend when +12v is supplied and collapse when power is removed. Fabricate a bracket and just splice a wire from your Compressor clutch power wire ( Blue wire ) and you're good to go. Much easier and more reliable than the Vacuum nonsense. 

 

Plentiful at Auto wreckers and cheap from most Auto Supplier. Here's just one I found on E-Bay. $24.75 :

Prices seem to vary all over the place on E-Bay. A Standard Blue Streak ES-9 goes from $24 with Free shipping to $95 for the same part. Shop carefully.

 

The $19.95 USD solenoid from Carb Junky's should work fine. You'll have to fabricate a mounting bracket. Browse these pages:

Well i see people here have different opinions on the correct part to get my AC running perfectly on my 1972 240z? I thought that with installing a working servo diaphgram on top of the balance tube would work fine. But if it will give me hassles then i follow the right advice. Cant stand the heat inside the car and really need to have the AC installed. In addition to that nobody can tell me if this bracket will work as a perfect bolt in with a Sander 508 compressor:

I wrote an email to the seller and he does not know if it will work with a Sanden 508 compressor.

Get one from a 280Z.  They come stock from the factory.  You'll have to fabricate a bracket by your throttle linkage and wire up a solenoid valve and vacuum tank.

If i manage to get a Throttle opener control valve and servo diaphgram from a 260z, how do i test them to verify they are fully functional??

Just e-mailed this people and they told me these electrical solenoids wont work on my 72 240z! any other source?

What part of: " You'll have to fabricate a mounting bracket " is not clear?

 

The supplier you called did not understand what you were trying to do,  or you did not explain properly that you were going to custom fabricate a bracket for the solenoid.  It's a simple on/off 12 volt solenoid that can be made to work on ANY car with a little bit of thought and a minor amount of skill.... 

 

If you called up the supplier and say something like:  " Will this Chevy solenoid work on my 1972 Datsun? "... of course they will say no.

 

If you say: " I want to buy this solenoid and adapt it to fit my car. I don't really care that it's not made for my car."  Then you should get an entirely different answer. Like:  " Yes sir...will that be MasterCard or Visa? "

 

Hell... I had 1968 Mini Cooper parts on my 1973 Camaro. You sometimes have to MAKE things work on 40+ year old cars. It's not all plug and play.
