Heater control mechanism connection

Hello everyone,

just rebuilt the heater box, heater core, installed new foam everywhere. I have installed the heater box and the cables. My dash is not in yet as I wanted to take care of this first and then put the dash. I have installed the heater control mechanism cables to the appropriate section of the heater box excluding the blower motor flap.

My question:

1. Is there a bracket that holds the long cable to the blower motor flap? My box doesn't seem to have it.

2. I know the heater cable mechanism attaches to the back of the heater control panel, is there another mounting point behind the heater control mechanism?

3. Will I have an issue installing the dash with the heater mechanism already connected to the box(not the heater control panel)

Thanks!

What model car are you working on?  My early 260z has strange clips made out of a spring metal that keeps those cables where they need to be.  I had a discussion about finding those clips with another member here a while ago, there were a few good pictures:

I assume a 240z is the same but I havent worked on one personally.  The late 260z and later used a vacuum controlled system

sorry its a '72 240z. I should really update my profile! Anyway, the pics are great! I wasn't sure if the heater plate panel takes the bulk of the load off that mechanism. I have to search the service manual again, and look for my "how to restore your Datsun Z" book to get some references.
