bartsscooterservice Posted July 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2015 Since I am rebuilding my engine, I needed to find a color as close to original as possible. I found some Dupont codes, but somehow they couldn't convert that here or where not using it anymore.. A friend who lives nearby, who's also on the forum here, had a bracket laying around that still contained some of the original color.. I had it matched up at a paint shop into cans, what do you guys think of it? In the flash picture, you can see the blue more, but in normal daylight it's like the blue/turquoise.. siteunseen Posted July 13, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2015 That looks very close to my motor mount too. I'll get a picture up later when I'm home from work. Turquoise is a good descriptive.
bartsscooterservice Posted July 13, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted July 13, 2015 This is what it looks outside when dryed..
Jarvo2 Posted July 13, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 13, 2015 I went with Pontiac Bluish-Green engine paint from Duplicolor. Seemed pretty close, unless you want to buy the official reblend of Datsun Blue.
240tom Posted July 13, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 13, 2015 I have a whole, unused can that I bought from Les Cannady that I will give you. PM me
siteunseen Posted July 13, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) This is what it looks outside when dryed.. That's real close to what my Dupicolor Old Ford Blue came out like. The cap matched a lot better than the actual paint, it had some green in it (the cap) but when I painted the block it came out bluer. I call it Bud Lite Blue. Also thought about respraying with Pontiac Blue like Jarvo used. It's amazing how different your paint looks in the different pictures, lighting. siteunseen Posted July 13, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 13, 2015 Now that looks good! Makes me mad I didn't chose Pontiac to begin with, oh well.
bartsscooterservice Posted July 13, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted July 13, 2015 I had the paint matched with original paint that was still on a bracket, so it must be like 97% close ?
73str86 Posted July 13, 2015 Share #11 Posted July 13, 2015 I believe I purchased my "Datsun blue" from DatsunPartsLLC. It also looks different with and without flash.
EuroDat Posted July 13, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 13, 2015 Yeah, Datsunparts llc, something not quite right about the colour.Banzai has a very close matching colour from what I have read from other forum users.
