Interior door sill scuff plate for '78 280Z

OK, now that I'm finishing the interior of my car, I am searching for the scuff plate (metal/vinyl) for both sides.  Color doesn't matter, as I plan to paint them both, but I need nice ones.  Anyone have a line on used or new ones?  It looks like '77-78 had different ones than the other years.  (figures)  Any help, input or ideas is appreciated.  Thanks!

If your are talking about the interior scuff plate, I found mine for a 77' on ebay.  I see those plates for a 240 all the time there but only on occasion for the later years.  I often wondered if the 240 scuff plates would function properly on the later years.

Can you check the distance between the screw holes at the ends of the tin scuff plate (Datsun word side, the up side), and the overall length and let me know? I have a pair of these are about 2" longer than the usual 240 plates, and I suspect they are late 280.

Jim,

I have a set of the long ones, I think so anyway. They don't fit my 77 so I thought they are for a 2+2. The guy I got them from said they were for a S30 coupe, but I doubt it.

I asked this question a while back and sought of forgot about it. BTW if anyone wants them, they can have them for shipping costs. No damage, but they need polishing.

I have been looking for the same thing. The vinyl is peeling up on mine. Its the piece that acts as a transition strip for the carpet by the "sill" plate correct? Also half covers the weatherstrip. If so I have seen ones for the 75-76 but not 77-78 like we are looking for. If you find a source please post it. I was thinking of removing the vinyl and spraying them with rustoleums hammerite finish. Mine has that texture look to them now.

Aha! 2+2 for sure is the reason for the extra length. all coupe doors are the same width. I have tons of the short ones if that works for you,

Sorry got none of the inner black vinyl covered ones though, rare as hens dentures. If the underlying tin is in good shape, yup, just strip the old vinyl and texture coat them with something tough. Box liner? They are scuff plates after all.

and rereading your initial post, you were only asking for the inner ones anyway. Trying to be too helpful...

You probably already know this, but sometimes a dedicated ebay seller hasn't listed all of their parts yet. I've had some luck by contacting them and asking for specific parts. Especially odd parts like heater doors and such.

Here's an example of what I mentioned earlier about 240 scuff plates. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-Inner-Scuff-Plates-1970-1973-NEW-/311400687253?hash=item4880ed6695.
